I studied human geography, sociology and cultural studies in Germany and Ireland and received my PhD in Human Geography (focus on political and cultural studies) in 2017.
In seven years as a research assistant at the Humboldt University and the Free University of Berlin, I gained extensive experience in social science research as well as in the conception and implementation of teaching. Over the years, I have supervised almost 350 students, led various research projects and was regularly responsible for organizing academic conferences.
I was a speaker at several dozen academic and professional conferences on social topics. I authored numerous books and magazine articles – in German, English and Polish.
I also worked as a project and program manager for companies in the social sector and gained experience in management. I acquired funds and had overall responsibility for projects with a total financial volume of around 4.5 million euros and up to 25 employees. The clients included the European Union, the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees, Berlin State Office for Refugee Affairs, the Robert Bosch Foundation and the German Federal Agency for Civic Education as well as various universities.
Thanks to longer work stays in Kenya, Israel, the Palestinian Territories, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain and Poland I have extensive experience in an international context. In addition to English, I am fluent in Polish, Spanish and German. I live in Berlin, but work throughout Germany and worldwide.
I have conviction and therefore prefer to work with customers and in projects that I can identify with and for which I am fully committed. Certain values are important to me:
Diversity and inclusion: People are diverse and everyone should have the same opportunities regardless of background, identity and worldview.
Anti-discrimination: It is the responsibility of all people to counteract forms of discrimination and devaluation of other humans and to reflect on them.
Social responsibility: Every action has consequences for others and it is our responsibility to be as aware of these as good as possible for not causing harm to others.
Global awareness: The global interconnections and their complexity continue to increase and it is important to be aware of them.
Learning: The world is changing rapidly, so it is important to constantly question oneself, develop and learn.
